Whitney

Whitney had this St. Paul studio, and also worked as a traveling photographer. He found himself in the middle of an Indian massacre in 1862, and fled from the Indians along with others, until the Army arrived. Whitney took "pictures of the captured Santee Indians
as well as some dramatic portraits of the refugees and the destruction." (Robert Brown)
