
Unusual postcard, ca1900. The ship image is printed in halftone, but the image of the two men which appears in the oval window is a tintype.
By this date, tintypes had long since gone out of vogue. Yet it is clear that the photographer on this vessel was set up to operate this way . . . .
the entire other side is an applied label which both holds the tintype in place and also provides a divided-back postcard layout and a box for a one cent stamp.
